Just in Time for Mother’s Day!

With Caitriona Balfe’s endorsement, Caitrionation & Cadsawan Jewelry are offering a collector’s edition of the coin pendant bearing her likeness to raise money for World Child Cancer.

The collector’s edition silver coin pendant comes with a numbered certificate of authenticity individually hand-signed by Caitriona and designer Janet Cadsawan and is strictly limited to the first 100 silver pieces minted.  The certified coins are available for $140, and will raise $5K (75% of proceeds) for Caitrionation’s charity partner, World Child Cancer, of which Caitriona is a patron.

Collectable Edition Silver Pendant comes on a sterling silver chain with a black velvet foil stamped pouch and a numbered certificate of authenticity, individually hand-signed by Caitriona Balfe and designer Janet Cadsawan.

The front of the pendant bears Caitriona’s profile and the year of Caitrionation’s founding, 2013; the “tails” side, inspired by a vintage sixpence coin, features the motto Toujours Fidèle, “Always Faithful,” surrounding a Scottish thistle, Irish shamrock and English rose entwined in a triqeutra knot, an ancient Celtic symbol. In contemporary Ireland, this trinity knot symbolizes the three promises of a relationship to love, honor and protect.

“That symbolism is particularly poignant when we think of who our charity serves.  No mother wants to see her child suffer in the face of a cancer diagnosis,” says Caitrionation founder April Steele, “World Child Cancer ensures that children in poor countries will have access to the same proven medical treatments and pain relief that are standard in developed nations.”

Caitriona has been a vocal supporter of World Child Cancer, “Many of these children have curable cancers, but without appropriate treatment, few of these children survive. World Child Cancer’s work in countries like Malawi, Cameroon, and Bangladesh are currently able to save sixty percent of their patients with inexpensive drugs and relatively simple procedures that have been around in developed countries for decades.”

Non-certified pendants are available in brass ($45) and silver ($95) with a percentage of the profits (25% and 50%, respectively) donated to World Child Cancer. “We wanted to support World Child Cancer—but we also wanted to make the pendant affordable to Caitriona’s fans,” explains Janet, the New York based designer who creates original pieces for TV, film and fashion clients, often inspired by books. The certified pendants give fans an beauitful way to express their affiliation with a wearable collectable that supports a great cause.

  1. Note: We wanted to wait until we had the signed certificates in hand before we announced this campaign. Caitriona let us know yesterday that they were ready–I’ll post a picture of a signed certificate as soon as Janet sends me a photograph. Remember! This is limited to 100 pieces. Put it on your mother’s day wish list? It is a great token of a mother’s love for her children, or a man’s love for the mother of his children.
