About Us

Caitrionation is fan group for Irish actor Caitriona Balfe who stars as Claire Randall Fraser in the television adaptation of Diana Gabaldon’s best selling Outlander books series. We call ourselves Caitriots.

In addition to spending time discussing Caitriona, her co-stars Sam Heughan, Tobias Menzies, Graham McTavish, and the books by Diana Gabaldon, we also raise money for World Child Cancer. World Child Cancer is a small non-profit organization that provides care to childhood cancer patients in economically disadvantaged countries. Through “twinning partnerships” that pair hospitals and medical experts in developed countries with those in developing nations, World Child Cancer is helping to develop sustainable programs that can provide diagnosis, treatment and palliative care to children that would otherwise go untreated. Thanks to World Child Cancer, these children have access to proven care and treatment that is widely available in first world countries, but otherwise nonexistent in poorer ones.

Caitriona Balfe Caitriona Balfe is an Irish actor, and former fashion model from the Republic of Ireland. She was born in Dublin on October 4, 1979 and grew up in a family of seven in the small County Monaghan village of Tydavnet.

A former fashion model who has graced the covers of Vogue and Elle, Caitriona was first scouted by an agent at the age of 19 while collecting donations for MS at the Swan Centre mall in Rathmine. At the time of her discovery, Caitriona was a drama student at the Dublin Institute of Technology with acting aspirations.

During the height of her successful modeling career, Caitriona worked for the top designers in the fashion industry, including Armani, Hugo Boss, Roberto Cavalli, Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana, DKNY, Givenchy, Gucci, Calvin Klein, Alexander McQueen, Valentino, and Louis Vuotton.

Though modeling was never a passion for Caitriona, it did open doors for her as an actor. Prior to being cast in the leading role of Claire Randall Fraser in Sony Television’s small screen adaptation of the best-selling Outlander novels, Caitriona appeared on the big screen in several films, including Super 8, Now You See Me, and Escape Plan. Her most recent film, The Price of Desire, is currently in post-production.

Caitriots the world over are thrilled with Caitriona in the role of Outlander’s feisty, intelligent protagonist, Claire. We are also pleased to be associated with such a quality person who has made herself so accessible to us since her casting. We invite other Outlander fans to follow us on Twitter at @Caitrionation and to join our membership at facebook.com/groups/Caitrionation where we enjoy the friendships and ongoing dialogue of a large community with worldwide fans.

Oultander airs on Saturday nights on the Starz in the United States, Showcase in Canada, SoHo in Australia, Lightbox in New Zealand and HBO in the Netherlands and is available for livestream through Amazon Prime Instant Video in the United Kingdom.
